How often do you get to grow up and do exactly what you dreamed of doing as a kid?
Today, the Class of 2027 toured Smith Brothers Powersports with Andrew Smith and got to hear how his childhood interests turned into a career in the family business!
Andrew shared the history of Smith Brothers Powersports, from his dad’s involvement in the business to Andrew and his brothers carrying it forward. It was a great opportunity for our students to learn about the opportunities and responsibilities that come with growing a family business across generations.
We also heard about Andrew’s experience owning and operating multiple local businesses, the challenges of managing those responsibilities, and how Smith Brothers Powersports continues to stay competitive through the brands and products they offer.
One thing that stood out was the importance Andrew and his family place on investing in the community. They’ve built businesses that serve the area while continuing to support the people and organizations around them.
For our students, it was another great example of how entrepreneurship can take different paths. Sometimes you build something entirely new, and sometimes you have the opportunity to take what the generation before you started and continue growing it. Either way, success requires hard work, good decisions, and a commitment to the people you serve.
Thank you to Andrew and the Smith Brothers Powersports team for welcoming our class and sharing your family’s story!
