There is a lot more to keeping the lights on than most of us ever stop to think about!
Thursday, Laura Bergman and her team welcomed the Class of 2027 to Adams Electric Cooperative for a look at how a member-owned cooperative operates and the role it plays in serving our communities.
The class learned about the cooperative business model and how it differs from traditional businesses, including the importance of member ownership, local decision-making, and a commitment to serving the people and communities that depend on them. It was a great opportunity to see a different approach to business, one where success is measured not just financially, but also by the service provided to members.
Laura and her team also shared how Adams Electric Cooperative invests in the communities it serves, including opportunities for young people through programs like Youth to Washington. One of our own CEO students has participated in the program, which made the conversation even more relevant to the class.
For our students, understanding different business structures is an important part of their entrepreneurial education. Cooperatives offer a unique perspective on ownership, governance, leadership, and the responsibility businesses have to the communities they serve.
Thank you, Laura, and the entire Adams Electric Cooperative team for welcoming our students, sharing your experience, and continuing to invest in the next generation of leaders in Adams County!
