Thursday, the Class of 2027 visited the Adams County Farm Bureau offices, where they were welcomed by Adams County CEO board member Annabelle Schaffnit for a great conversation about agriculture, advocacy, nonprofit leadership, and community impact!
Annabelle shared how the Farm Bureau advocates for farmers, including the need for a new Farm Bill, and explained how their grassroots structure gives members a voice in shaping policy through an annual vote on their policy book.
The class also learned about the differences between operating a nonprofit with a board of directors and running a for-profit business, along with the many ways the Farm Bureau Foundation invests in our community through meat donations, Ag in the Classroom, 4-H and FFA grants, and scholarships for high school and college students.
It was a great opportunity for our students to see how leadership and entrepreneurship extend beyond traditional business ownership and how organizations can use their resources and relationships to serve the communities around them.
