Today we kicked off our first business venture of the year, the Name Badge Business!
The Class of 2027 began taking the first steps toward turning an idea into an actual business. One team worked on identifying local businesses that could be a good fit to sponsor their name badges, while marketing, sales, and design teams began to emerge alongside our executive roles. Tomorrow, we’ll continue working through the structure, responsibilities, and strategy that will move the business forward.
Then the real work begins. Students will be contacting businesses, making sales calls, developing sponsorship opportunities, designing the badges, marketing the business, managing finances, and ultimately delivering a product to wear that will market their customers. If you own or work for a local business, be on the lookout. One of our students may be calling you soon!
The Name Badge Business is intentionally our first venture because everything they learn through this process becomes the foundation for what comes next. The money they earn will become the startup capital for their Class Business later this fall. That experience will eventually help prepare them to launch their own individual businesses in the spring.
Class just started, and these students are already doing some incredibly hard work, stepping outside their comfort zones, taking on responsibility, and learning what it actually takes to build something together.
