Today, Amy Schmiedeskamp of Homeology Design Co. joined the class as our guest speaker.

She opened with questions that pushed students to think beyond what they are building and focus on why they are building it.

Amy then shared ten lessons from her experience as an entrepreneur. Real takeaways, not theory. From using fear instead of avoiding it, to embracing the hustle, to understanding the freedom that comes with ownership, and knowing what truly sets you apart.

She also emphasized the ability to engage with people and meet them where they are. Business is built on trust, and trust is built through connection.

Another key focus was managing expectations. What you communicate and how you follow through directly shape the experience you create.

One of the strongest takeaways was her perspective on failure. Failure is rocket fuel. It is something to use, not avoid.

She also took time to answer questions from the class, giving students direct insight into the realities of running and growing a business.

At the core of it all was a simple idea. Help people get what they want and achieve what they could not on their own. That is where real value is created.

As we move closer to the Trade Show, that clarity matters.
